Kisumu County, through the Covenant of Mayors in Sub-Saharan Africa has developed three baseline studies (Baseline Emissions Inventory, a Risk and Vulnerability Assessment and an Access to Energy Assessment). These studies will inform the County’s climate action plan. The County has also developed a set regulatory framework - Climate Change Policy and Act.

The Kisumu County has completed its baseline studies and its SEACAP elaboration has not yet commenced.
Pilot projects on early warning systems and the adoption of renewable energy are underway. Technical staff have been trained on numerous topics including certified training on environment management system and energy audit as well as reporting for emissions inventory, access to energy assessment and risks and vulnerabilities in the County territory.
Political leaders have also been sensitised on climate change in Kisumu County.
