Applications open: Convene SEACAP Validation Workshops in Nakuru County, Kenya

ICLEI Africa is working with GIZ to support Nakuru County, Kenya, under the Covenant of Mayors in Sub Saharan Africa (CoM SSA) initiative to develop their Sustainable Energy Access and Climate Action Plan (SEACAP).
In order to develop the content of the SEACAP for Nakuru County, Kenya, ICLEI Africa is required to conduct a number of on the ground workshops with stakeholders in Kenya. Owing to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and associated travel restrictions and regulations, ICLEI Africa and GIZ teams are currently not able to travel to Kenya. In light of this, ICLEI Africa calls upon an appropriately qualified and experienced service provider (based in Nakuru County, Kenya) to assist ICLEI Africa with convening, organizing and running the required workshops.
Bids will be evaluated in response to this Terms of Reference, Qualifications/Skills, Demonstrated Experience, Methodology proposed and price.

Eight years on: evaluating the Kampala Climate Change Action Plan
On June 7th 2024, a workshop was organised by the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) to present the findings of the Kampala Climate Change Action Plan (KCCAP) evaluation. The KCCAP is a strategy developed by the Kampala Capital City Authority in 2016 to address climate change challenges and opportunities. It covers the following areas: energy, urban mobility, land use planning, and eco-practice. The plan aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 22% by 2030, enhance adaptive capacity, mainstream climate change response in city services, promote low-carbon development, increase stakeholder awareness, and foster city-to-city cooperation on climate change issues. The KCCAP, developed with the financial support of AFD and the technical support of Expertise France, is a transversal framework for mainstreaming climate response in all KCCA mandates and services.

In conversation with the Director of Technical Services in Dakar City Council
Cheikh Oumar El Foutiyou Ba was formed in engineering but also, he is an specialist in public infrastructure management. He has been the Director of the Technical Services of the Dakar City Council since 2021, although his work in the municipality began in 2014. Previously, Ba led the transport division and the public lighting and roads division. His current mission is to lead the transformation of the Senegalese capital into a more efficient, livable, and environmentally friendly city. Dakar, in the midst of a transition to clean energy, adopts an ecological approach to become a resilient, intelligent, and innovative city.
