The Covenant of Mayors in Sub-Saharan Africa (CoM SSA) is pleased to invite you to the "The Dakar Week for Sustainable Mobility and Climate” from 15th to 17th September 2021 on the theme of daily mobility in developing countries, its impacts on urban populations, and the fight against climate change at the local level. The summit will bring together many actors engaged in the fight against climate change, including state and non-state actors, local governments, the business sector, research institutions, and NGOs.
As part of the Mobility and Climate Week (SMCD-2021), the CoM SSA co-implementing partner AECID together with the Mayor's Office of Dakar and the event coordinator, Climate Chance, will offer the CoM SSA Day event 2021 on 15th September. The event will be focused on a variety of topics related to climate action plans and access to finance, climate change adaptation, and energy efficiency. A special effort will be made to promote city-to-city exchanges for CoM SSA signatories to be able to share knowledge, learn from pioneering sub-Saharan cities of CoM SSA, and reflect on the needs and on the way to move forward to overcome climate challenges at the local level.
CoM SSA’s 240+ mayors and partners will share their knowledge and success stories, focusing on overcoming the challenges that local governments face together with business sectors, financers, NGOs and research institutions.
Participants will attend panel discussions between thought-leaders, national and local governments’ representatives, and experts in climate change and related issues; training sessions, and learning labs centered on the participation of attendees for discussions and peer-to-peer knowledge exchange.
All CoM SSA sessions will have simultaneous translation in French, English, and Portuguese.
We look forward to seeing you there!
