CoM SSA expands to help African cities unlock climate finance

Building on CoM SSA’s previous successes, the initiative has expanded to not only focus on climate planning, but also on project implementation, and to unlock climate finance at the local level.

The objectives of this are as follows:

o Support at least 15 cities with developing or improving their Sustainable Energy Access and Climate Action Plans (SEACAPs)

o Help projects to enter the financing pipeline with private sector, banks and financial institutions

o Mobilise €160 million for climate and energy projects

o Reduce 220,000 tons of equivalent CO₂ emissions.

The initiative is moving from strength to strength, with a team of new implementing partners and additional co-funders that are working in close cooperation with the current partners, Secretariat and Helpdesk
